William Huckaby to Edward Chambers

This indenture made this 13th day of April one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine between William Huckaba [as written] of the county of Barren and state of Kentucky of the one part and Edward Chambers of the above named county and state of the other part witnesseth that the said William Huckaba [as written] for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Edward Chambers the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged and I the said William Huckaby have granted bargained and sold and by these present do grant bargain and sell and deliver unto Edward Chamber a certain tract or parcel of land in said county of Barren on Peter’s Creek being part of a tract containing one thousand acres belonging to John Hopkins of the state of Virginia running and bounded as followeth [as written] to wit Beginning at a post oak where the original calls for a black oak and dogwood and running thence South 67 W 82 poles to a stake standing about ten feet North of a marked poplar thence North 25 W 94 poles to a white oak thence N 47 E 116 poles to a black gum and dogwood on the original line and with the same S 13 E 132 poles to the beginning containing sixty acres and S the said William Huckaba [as written] will warrant and forever defend the above mentioned tract of land and its appertainances [as written] to the Edward Chambers his heirs executors __ free and clear from me and my heirs and assigns and from all and every person or persons whatsoever laying legal claims to the land including the improvements of said land in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year first above written.

Kentucky Barren County Sct}

We, James Frazer [ as written] and Asa Young two of the Commonwealth Justices of the Peace for said county do certify that Rebecca Huckaby wife of the within named William Huckaby this day personally appeared before us and being examined by us privately and apart from her husband as the law directs did of her own free will and consent relinquish her right of Dower to this deed and the same is hereby certified to the clerk of the county court for record where the premises by given under our hands this 13th day of April 1829.                                                  James Frazer JP

 Barren County To wit,

I, William Logan clerk of the county Court for the County aforesaid do certify that the foregoing Deed of conveyance from William Huckaby and wife to Edward Chambers was proved before me to be the act and Deed of the said William Huckaby by the oaths of ___ Wells and James Frazer [as written] witnesseth thereto whereupon the aforesaid Deed and relinquishment of Dower thereon endorsed together with this certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office this 20th July 1829.
