02 Bell's Tavern (Circa 1999) The
five-acre tract houses the stone remains of hand-cut stone walls.
The property has been listed in the National Register of Historic
Places, based on its architecture. Efforts have begun to expand the
National Register nomination to include various aspects of the site,
including three existing well and cistern sites, remains of an ice
house, and the nineteenth century Bell-Proctor family cemetery. An
archaeological field study of the site is planned 03 "Davidson Bros. Grocery",

Bros. a wholesale grocery warehouse in Glasgow. It was destroyed by
fire June 20, 1933. Location in town is uncertain 04 The
I.N.Denham home which was built after the War of 1812. It is located
on Hwy 839 near Nobob and was later owned by James Marion and Sarah
Elizabeth Simmons, and later by Flava Froedge   05 "First and Broadway", Compliments

07 "Green Street", This picture is looking on Green Street across from
the square. The undertaker was also a furniture store, F. P.
Williams, which was one of the early owners of what is now Hatcher
and Saddler Funeral Home 08 Lewis Hill Crossroads, contributed by
Daine Harrison, Barren County, KY. The road sign was taken in the
early 50's at the foot of Lewis Hill, intersection of 31E and
Highway 87. It is now under about 6 feet of water at the beach area
at Barren River State Park 09 The old Liberty College which is on Liberty Street. It
later became the grade and high school, then Western KY University
took part of it and the middle school the last. It is now vacant and
being remodeled, possibly into apartments, recreation department,
etc. 1907
10 Mentz Hotel (Circa 1906)", served as the Baulch Junior School
for Boys in later years. Pictured, left front: Mr. E.H. Mentz; right
front; unknown porter. Porch: Eugenia, daughter; Mrs. Mentz, and
son-in-law. 11 Mentz Hotel (Circa 2000), now owned by Elmer
and Wanda Probus and Reggie Probus. 12 Buford's Mill
(Circa 1910), contributed by Daine Harrison, Barren
County, KY. A baptizing at the mill about 1910. The Mill was built
by Killian Creek starting about 1798, and he sold the mill to Simeon
Buford in 1802. It was first known as Buford's Mill. It is located
about 3 miles northwest of Glasgow on Beaver Creek. |
