[1833-1861] Book _____ Page 128-129
I, Samuel Harbison of
Glasgow, Ky., make and publish the following as my last will and
testament. Viz: It is my will and desire, after the payment of my
debts and funeral expenses, that my Executor hereinafter named have the
family burying ground (40 x 60 feet) inclosed with a heavy wrought iron
railing and that he have erected at the graves of the adult members of
the family, including my own and the children that were removed from the
country and buried in one grave, a marble monument or tablet with proper
inscriptions, except the younger, which I desire shall be made of
stone.
I give and bequeath to
my mother, Mary Harbison, (after the payment of the specific legacies
hereinafter made) all of my property of every description to have and
enjoy during her life, except so much as may be expended in an
economical way in giving to my nieces and nephews the children of my
brothers Andrew, Ordean and George (each child to have an equal share) a
common English education—Mary Harbison, the child of Ordean, to receive
her share in cash.
I desire that my
interest in the land in Boyle County, Ky. Shall be sold at such time as
my Executor and others interested in the same, shall think proper and
the proceeds vested in Bank stock for the use of my mother and the
education of said children as above stated, and it is further my desire
that the home place be kept as a home for my mother during her life. I
give and bequeath to my brother Andrew J. Harbison my gold watch and
chain to have and to hold forever.
I give and bequeath to
my brother Derastus Wilson Harbison my sorrel filly about three years
old and my shotgun to have and to hold forever.
It is further my will
and desire that my Executor pay over to the trustees or building
committee of the old school Presbyterian church in Glasgow, one hundred
dollars to aid in building a house of worship in said town. I hereby
nominate, constitute and appoint my friend, Alexander Crenshaw, Executor
to this my last will and testament. Given under my hand and seal this
10th day of April 1861.
